NJ Department of Banking and Insurance Awards $5 Million to Community Organizations to Connect Residents to Health Insurance Coverage Through Get Covered New Jersey
TRENTON — The New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance today announced over $5 million in Navigator grant awards to 33 community organizations that will provide assistance in connecting uninsured residents to health coverage through Get Covered New Jersey, the State’s Official Health Insurance Marketplace, during the Open Enrollment Period and throughout the year. This year, the program adds five new Navigator organizations to help consumers find health coverage in more communities across the state. The health insurance Open Enrollment Period for Plan Year 2027 begins November 1, 2026, and ends January 31, 2027.
Navigator organizations provide free, unbiased outreach, education, and assistance with enrollment and renewals to residents shopping for health insurance. They engage consumers in-person and remotely, in more than 10 languages, in all 21 counties. Navigators can also assist consumers in applying for financial help.
“Providing New Jerseyans support in local communities is crucial now more than ever; consumers face a confusing landscape as the federal government has changed eligibility requirements and withdrawn needed financial assistance,” said Acting Commissioner Susan Ochs. “These organizations will provide vital outreach, education, and enrollment help for New Jerseyans looking for health coverage and I am pleased that we are able to expand the navigator network to even more communities across the state.”
