Governor Sherrill Statement on Gateway Development Commission's Marking the Start of Tunnel Boring for Hudson Tunnel Project

TRENTON –  Governor Sherrill today joined the Gateway Development Commission in announcing the launch of the first tunnel boring for the Hudson Tunnel Project, the first new rail tunnel under the Hudson River in more than a century, providing the statement below:

“Launching the first tunnel boring machine marks a major step forward for the Gateway Program and for the nearly 200,000 passengers who depend on the current century-old tunnel every day. I was proud to be known as the ‘tunnel-obsessed Congresswoman,’ and I am just as proud to be the ‘tunnel-obsessed Governor.’ We have beaten the Trump Administration's efforts to stop Gateway five times, and we will keep fighting for the commuters, workers, and families who need us to finish the most important infrastructure project in the country. This tunnel boring machine moves in one direction: forward. So will we.”
